Deputies continue to search for Freddie Day wanted for the attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old

LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT: Freddie Day, 43 years old, resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM: Confidential female
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 19, 2017 at approximately 2:57 p.m., Deputy W. Greer from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Morongo Basin Station responded to a residence on Twentynine Palms Hwy to investigate the report from a 14-year-old juvenile claiming a male adult, later identified as Freddie Day, asked if she could help him jump start his quad. The juvenile told Day she could not help him and there was no one else at her residence. She watched as he walked away, then she entered her residence. As she entered her bedroom, she realized Day had entered her residence and was standing behind her. Day told the juvenile he could have raped and killed her. Day then grabbed and “bear hugged” the juvenile. Fearing Day was going to kidnap her, the juvenile grabbed him by the throat causing Day to release his grasp. The juvenile rushed toward the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Day fled the residence eastbound through the desert. Neighbors confirmed seeing Day in the neighborhood but did not know where he had fled. Deputies conducted an extensive area check for Day but could not locate him.
