Craigslist is not so profitable for one drug dealer!

On Wednesday October 17, 2017 the Simi Valley Police Departments Narcotics unit conducted an undercover sting on a suspected drug dealer within the city of Simi Valley. This dealer was utilizing a popular social media / vending site to distribute his drugs. Jorge Castillo (48 yrs) was utilizing “Craigslist” in an effort to illegally sell Adderall, a popular drug abused by young adults. Officers working in an undercover capacity acted as potential buyers of the drugs. Upon arriving at a designated meeting site, Castillo was arrested and found to be in possession of 33 Adderall pills and over $700 dollars in suspected drug proceeds. Castillo was booked for a violation of 11379 H&S – Sales or attempted sales of a dangerous drug.

This arrest was a result of the Simi Valley Police Departments proactive approach to the battle against illegal drugs in our community. It is also a good reminder for parents to monitor their children’s use of all social media sites. Predators of all types utilize these sites for nefarious activities and often prey on the youth of our community.

If you would like to report any illegal drug activity, the Simi Valley Police Department encourages you to call the Narcotics Hotline at (805) 583-6210.
