Walnut City Fire safety tips http://bit.ly/2kEOVIe
Wildfires, what you need to know!
Wildfires are a fact of life in California. Unlike the past, the fire season can be yearlong. We live in a beautiful area, but it comes with risks. The Walnut / Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, urges the residents of Walnut and surrounding areas, to be prepared in the event of a wildfire.
Should a wildfire occur, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Count...y Fire Department will work together in a unified command to preserve life and property. We will notify residents of critical information, along with giving evacuation orders, should the need arise. Our first concern during such an event is the preservation of life. Material objects can be replaced, you cannot. If an evacuation order is given, it is time to go!
The Los Angeles County Fire Department has developed the “Ready! Set! Go!” program for residents. The program provides education for making your home “Ready!” by creating a defensible and hardened home against fire. Get “Set!” by preparing an action plan with your family, and practicing it regularly. “Go!” early, if given the evacuation order.
We encourage residents to make a kit for evacuation. Keep the six “P’s” ready:
• People and pets
• Papers, phone numbers, and important documents
• Prescriptions, vitamins, and eyeglasses
• Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia
• Personal computers (information on hard drives and
disks)
• “Plastic” (credit cards, ATM cards) and cash
