The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

October 12th

1005 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 45 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1307 Hours: Officer Wallace responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for a shoplifter in custody. Officer Wallace arrested the 34 year old San Jose female for burglary. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1414 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 35 year old Union City male for possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing burglary tools and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1424 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 26 year old Oakland male for public intoxication and his outstanding warrant on the 3900 block of Balentine Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1623 Hours: Officer Rivas was dispatched to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for a shoplifter in custody. Officer Rivas arrested the 48 year old Richmond female for burglary, possessing burglary tools, possessing narcotics and for possessing drug paraphernalia.
Officer Wallace responded to assist with this investigation and contacted and arrested an associated 43 year old transient male sitting in a vehicle just outside Macy’s. The suspect was arrested for possessing a controlled substance for sale and for possessing marijuana for sale. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2002 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 31 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant while performing a security check of Byington Park. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0032 Hours: Officer R. Johnson contacted and arrested a 25 year old Redwood City male during a traffic stop on Saint Edwards Drive for false registration. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

October 13th

1142 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 42 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia for sale and for violating the terms of his probation on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1242 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 67 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant at Ash Street Park. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1407 Hours: Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 36 year old transient male for his outstanding warrant near the Central Avenue overpass. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2148 Hours: Officers investigated multiple car burglaries in the AMC parking lot. The loss is laptop computers and miscellaneous electronics.

0334 Hours: Officer Slavazza issued a 46 year old Hayward female a citation for false vehicle registration on the 6100 block of Central Avenue. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

October 14th

0702 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated the theft of a gray 1996 Honda Civic (CA License #3PIV690) on the 35600 block of Haley Street.

0854 Hours: Officer Lenz contacted and arrested a 32 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance and for driving with a suspended license. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1752 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the grab and run theft of a laptop computer off a table in front of Starbucks, 35040 Newark Boulevard.

1901 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 33 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants during a routine traffic stop on Newark Boulevard at Hwy. 84. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

October 15th

0957 Hours: Officer Germano investigated an auto burglary on the 6100 block of Rockrose Drive. The loss is a stereo.

1005 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated a strong-arm robbery on Hazelnut Drive at Mayhews Landing Road. The loss is a necklace.

1132 Hours: Officer Wang recovered a Honda Accord that was reported stolen in Washington State on the 37400 block of Sycamore Street. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1529 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated a non-injury hit and run accident on Newark Boulevard at Brittany Avenue.

0328 Hours: Officers responded to a burglary in progress at Pic N Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue. An extensive search of the massive yard was conducted but the suspect eluded capture. The loss is undetermined at this time. Thank you to the Fremont Police Department for the K9 assistance.
