Timely Warning - Strong Arm Robbery

On Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:59 a.m. a strong arm robbery occurred at Café Strada located at the intersection of Bancroft Way and College Avenue.  The male victim, unknown affiliation, was in the café when both suspects entered the café together.  The victim was using his laptop when one of the suspects stole it off the table.  Both suspects fled the café on Bancroft as the victim chased after them.  One of the suspects stopped and knocked the victim to the ground causing minor injuries.  The suspects fled into a University parking garage.  One was stopped by a group of good Samaritans while the other was able to flee the area. 
The suspects were described as:
Suspect #1: A Black male, 17 years of age.
Suspect #2: A Black male, in his 20’s, 5’8” in height, with a thin build and short hair.

  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings
  • When out and about, keep your electronic devices out of public view as they are a popular robbery target
  • Dial 510-642-3333 or use a Blue Light emergency phone if you need help.
  • Please do not delay in calling 911. UCPD strongly encourages the reporting of criminal or suspicious activity in a timely manner to assist us in intervening in potential criminal actively and apprehending suspects.
  • If a motor vehicle is involved in a crime report the following information: activity, direction of travel, license plate, color, make/model, unusual characteristics (e.g., dents, bumper stickers, graphics, wheels, tinted windows, lifted/lowered), number of persons, etc.
This crime alert has been released with the joint cooperation of BPD and UCPD.
