(Fairfield, CA) Fire Update for City of Fairfield Residents 10/14/17 9:00 am

Fire Update for City of Fairfield Residents
10/14/17 9:00 am

There are no changes to the City of Fairfield's alert status for the Atlas Fire.  Winds are stronger today and firefighters continue to battle the fire outside of the city limits.

There was a grass fire last night near Sanctuary Drive that was completely unrelated to the Atlas Fire.  That fire was called in at 3:17 am.  No structures or property were damaged in the three-alarm blaze.  The cause of that fire is under investigation, but the fire is in no way related to the Atlas Fire.

Here is a recap of all relevant information provided to date:

Updates regarding the progress of the fire will come from CAL Fire. (www.calfire.ca.gov)

In consultation with CAL FIRE and the Solano County Sheriff’s Department, all designated evacuation areas in unincorporated Solano County, and all advisory areas and road closures in both Fairfield city limits and unincorporated Solano County remain in effect at this time.

There are currently no EVACUATION areas within Fairfield city limits.

There are currently two ADVISORY areas in Fairfield city limits:
  • Fairfield neighborhoods west of Interstate 80
  • Lower Green Valley neighborhoods between Interstate 80 and the Eastridge neighborhood
An ADVISORY is not an evacuation order. It is a notice that residents should prepare to evacuate should the need arise. We are suggesting that residents who live in neighborhoods under an Advisory pack necessary items such as medication, clothing, and any other items they would want to leave with so they can leave if the need arises.
SHELTERS:
  • The evacuation shelter at the Allan Witt Sports Complex at 1741 W Texas St, Fairfield has closed due to diminished need.
  • The Solano Community College Evacuation Center remains open and has room for evacuees if needed.
  • The Solano County Fairgrounds is open for livestock.
SCHOOL CLOSURES
  • According to the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Facebook page, all FSUSD schools will resume classes and student activities on Monday, October 16th, 2017.
DONATIONS:
We continue to receive offers of donations of food and other items. Currently our first responders are well taken care of and fed, so the City of Fairfield would like anyone considering a donation to contact a local non-profit, or make the donation to the Red Cross. (800) 733-2767.
