**UPDATE - ARREST** IMPD investigates the suspicious circumstances of woman found dead inside the gym of an apartment building

INDIANAPOLIS - Detectives have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Cody Weir of Avon as the man to have alleged murder the victim in this case. The suspect has been preliminarily charged with murder and processed at the Marion County Jail. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will review the investigative findings of this case to determine a charging decision. There are not expected to be any further updates from the until after the suspect has had an initial hearing.

INDIANAPOLIS - The victim of the homicide at 300 W 9th St has been identified as 23-year-old Carina Rodriguez. Detectives have taken a suspect into custody believed to be responsible for her death. 

The suspect is currently being questioned by Homicide detectives at IMPD Headquarters where he will then be arrested and booked. The suspect's name is not being released at this time. The suspect's booking photo will not be immediately available. 

The IMPD would like to take this opportunity to thank all who called in with tips and our media partners for sharing information about this incident which led to the quick apprehension of the suspect. IMPD is not seeking any other suspects and believe there to be no further threat to public safety in reference to this incident.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating suspicious circumstances around a woman found in the second-floor gym of an apartment building. 

Just before 6:30 a.m. this morning, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West 9th Street reference a person down. When officers arrived, they found an unidentified female suffering from obvious signs of trauma. The extent and nature of the injuries are not yet known, but detectives do not suspect that the victim sustained any injuries as a result of being shot. Detectives expect to know more after an autopsy is completed in the coming days.  

Detectives are canvassing the area and speaking with residents, and Downtown District is speaking with residents to ensure a feeling of safety. Detectives have not yet released any suspect information, but are following-up on some promising leads. This investigation is being investigated as a criminal homicide at this time.
