Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Eastport, New York, today.
Gerald Bennett was driving a 2009 Honda CRV, exiting the parking lot at 25 Eastport Manor Road, when his vehicle collided with a 2008 Ford F350 that was traveling northbound on Eastport Manor Road at approximately 5:10 p.m.
Bennett, 84, of East Moriches, was transported by East Moriches Community Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, Chase Evarhart, 19, of Westhampton, remained at the scene and was uninjured.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
