The following is an update on the Atlas Fire Voluntary Evacuation status of the Eastridge neighborhood in Fairfield, CA. There has been no change in the fire status within Fairfield city limits. The fire is outside of the city limits.
The Voluntary Evacuation of the Eastridge neighborhood has been DOWNGRADED to an ADVISORY, and evacuation is no longer recommended. Residents may return to their Eastridge neighborhood as soon as they want. Returning residents are still encouraged to be prepared to evacuate on a short notice if fire conditions change.
Since Green Valley Road north of Eastridge is still closed to accommodate firefighters and equipment, residents should approach the neighborhood using northbound Green Valley Road (from the I-80 area.)
To clarify, an
ADVISORY is not an evacuation order. It is a notice that residents should begin to prepare to evacuate should the need arise. We are suggesting that residents who live in the parts of the communities under Advisory, pack necessary items such as medication, clothing, and any other items they would want to leave with so they can leave if the need arises.

Other terms to be familiar with:
Mandatory Evacuation: This is a warning to persons within the designated area that an imminent threat to life and property exists and individuals MUST evacuate in accordance with the instructions of local officials.
Voluntary Evacuation: This is a warning to persons within a designated area that a threat to life and property exists or is likely to exist in the immediate future. Individuals issued this type of warning are NOT required to evacuate; however, it would be to their advantage to do so.
Advisory: This is alerting persons to be mindful and prepared to vacate should the order be given.
