Pedestrian Not In Crosswalk Struck Fatal Injury

On 10/11/17, at approximately 6:35 AM, the Chula Vista Police Department received a 911 call reporting a serious traffic accident on 200 Palomar St. The collision involved a pedestrian and a pickup truck.

Officers from the CVPD arrived along with firefighters from the CVFD to find the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The deceased is not yet identified. The deceased is an adult male approximately 40 years of age.

The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was illegally crossing Palomar St. mid-block, not in a crosswalk and between two intersections which provide traffic signals and crosswalks for pedestrians.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative as officers investigated the incident. There was no indication alcohol or drugs played a role in this collision.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be continuing to investigate this incident.

Please contact Officer Victor Del Rio Chula Vista Police Department Traffic Bureau (619) 409-5833 if you have any information regarding this collision.
