Update: W. 29th Ave shooting now homicide investigation; partial road closure continues

On 10/11/17 at 4:16 a.m., Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 800 block of West 29th Avenue.
The preliminary investigation found that there were a group of people inside an apartment on the 2nd floor of the building. When officers arrived, they found an adult male shot inside the living room area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple people, including witnesses, have been taken into custody for questioning.
The suspect is described as an adult male. No further information is available due to the inconsistent accounts from witnesses.
A portion of West 29th Avenue will remain closed for several hours as the Homicide Unit collects evidence. Officers are coordinating with the Anchorage School District to provide support for students who live in the area to attend school.
