Novato, CA- The Novato Fire District currently has two engine companies, two Chief Officers, and our Public Information Officer assigned to the fires in Napa and Sonoma counties. Our personnel are actively engaged in fighting the large fires affecting those communities and in rescuing people in the path of the fire.

We will remain committed to actively supporting firefighting operations in the affected counties. All Novato fire stations are fully staffed and ready to continue to serve and protect Novato. We are working in close partnership with our partners at the Novato Police Department, the City of Novato, and the Marin County Sheriff’s Department to ensure Novato residents are well protected during these challenging times.

The vegetation fire on Highway 37 at Lakeville Highway has burned more than 1,900 acres. The aggressive actions of Marin firefighters contained this fire. The fire does not pose a threat to Novato.

Our employees have also suffered personal losses as a result of these devastating fires as several of our employees live in the path of the very fires that they are assigned to. We are working hard to ensure that our fire family is strong and supportive of our members who have suffered a loss.

The Novato Fire Foundation is currently accepting donations of cash and gift cards to support fire victims. We are not currently accepting donations of other items including food and clothing. Your tax deductible donation will aid and support those that have lost homes and suffered personal losses. The men and women of the Novato Fire District wish to express our deepest condolences to the many people who have suffered a personal loss and who have been impacted in any way by the fire siege affecting Sonoma and Napa counties.
