Update and Statement from Chief Adam McGill on North Bay Fires

The Novato Police Department currently has five officers up north assisting our partner agencies with evacuations and life-saving efforts. A mutual aid request was sent during the overnight hours and we were eager to assist.

Internally, we are assessing the needs of our employees as many of them are residents of Sonoma and Napa Counties. We have multiple employees who had homes destroyed in the early morning hours. We have several more who have been evacuated.

We are working closely with our public safety partners in Novato to coordinate efforts here at home. Delivering high quality public safety and service to those living, working, and visiting our city is of utmost importance. In addition to coordinating efforts on the ground, we are working to ensure that our employees and their families who have been displaced by the fires have the support and resources they need moving forward.

From the Chief:
“The men and women of the Novato Police Department offer heartfelt condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating North Bay fires. We also wish the first responders safety and security as they continue with rescues and life-saving endeavors. But most important, we stand ready to roll up our sleeves and assist our employees and their loved ones in any way we can during this time.”
