Single vehicle, roll over traffic collision on Mariposa Rd.; passenger suffers fatal injuries

SUMMARY:
On Friday, October 6, 2017 at approximately 1:07a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a single vehicle traffic collision, north of the intersection of Mariposa Road and Cottonwood Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a Pontiac G6 was traveling north on Mariposa Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and roll multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.
The driver of the Pontiac required extrication by rescue personnel from San Bernardino County Fire Department and was flown to a nearby trauma center for treatment. The passenger of the Pontiac succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. Mariposa Road, north of Cottonwood Avenue, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene.
