Narrative:
On the evening of October 5, 2017, patrol deputies from the Moorpark Sheriff’s Station received a radio call of a vehicle theft that had just occurred in the area of Leta Yancy Road and Juarez Avenue in the City of Moorpark.  While they were responding to the area, deputies observed the stolen vehicle driving westbound on Los Angeles Avenue.  Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The vehicle initially yielded but then sped off at a high rate of speed and a vehicle pursuit was initiated by the deputies.

Deputies pursued the vehicle for several minutes until the vehicle reached the south end of Hitch Road.  The vehicle came to a stop at the dead end of Hitch Road, as pursuing deputies initiated a high risk traffic stop.  A few moments after the stolen vehicle stopped, it quickly and aggressively reversed, colliding with one of the parked police vehicles with enough force to move the police vehicle backward several feet. The deputies were able to move out of the way of both vehicles and were not injured.  The deputies then advanced on the stolen vehicle and arrested both the driver and passenger.

The driver, identified as 18 year Sara Martinez of Moorpark, was charged with 10851(a) VC / Vehicle Theft, 2800.2(b) VC / Evading Pursuing Police Officer with Wanton Disregard, 245(c) PC / Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer, 186.22(a) PC / Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, and 182(a)(1) PC / Criminal Conspiracy, and was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail with bail set at $105,000.00.

The female juvenile passenger was charged with 10851(a) VC / Vehicle Theft, 245(c) PC / ADW on a Police Officer, 186.22(a) PC / Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, 182(a)(1) PC / Criminal Conspiracy and was lodged at Juvenile Hall.
