Flood Advisory until 04:15PM

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... West central Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico... East central San Juan County in northwestern New Mexico...

* Until 530 PM MDT.

* At 334 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of west central Rio Arriba and east central San Juan Counties. Largo Canyon is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. Low water crossings may also be flooded.

* AFFECTED AREAS: RIO ARRIBA ... SAN JUAN

Instructions:

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
