#LASD Homicide, Charges Filed On Four Suspects In The 2016 Murder Of 1-Year Old Autumn Johnson

On Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at approximately 6:58 p.m., one-year-old baby Autumn Johnson was shot inside her home in the 300 block of North Holly Avenue in the city of Compton.  Responding deputies, in an attempt at saving her life, rushed baby Autumn to the hospital in their patrol car, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.  After shooting baby Autumn, the suspects fled the scene and were outstanding.

Subsequently a $75,000 reward was offered by the City of Compton, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators along with Compton Sheriff’s Station Operation Safe Streets gang investigators assumed control of the investigation.  During their initial investigation they received information on the identity of one of the suspects responsible for the murder.  An arrest was made of a possible suspect early in the investigation, but due to a lack of evidence, the suspect was released.

Homicide and Compton Operation Safe Streets investigators, never gave up and continued their search.  Eventually their hard work and dedication to baby Autumn’s murder paid off, and today they are happy to announce that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has filed murder and accessory charges on four suspects for their involvement in the murder of baby Autumn.

On September 27, 2017, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed Murder and Attempt Murder charges on Suspects Davion Douglas, 27; Denzell Hull, 25; and Ronzay Richards, 25.  Suspect Ray Patterson, 24, was charged with Accessory After the Murder.  Suspect Hull was also charged with a separate Attempt Murder which occurred approximately one month after the murder of baby Autumn.

Suspects Douglas and Hull are currently incarcerated in state prison on unrelated burglary charges.  Suspect Patterson is incarcerated in a Nevada State Prison on an unrelated weapons charge.  On October 4, 2017, an arrest warrant was issued for Suspect Richards; he was located, arrested, and charged with murder.  Arraignment for the suspects is scheduled for October 13, 2017.
