Overnight, the Choctaw County sheriff requested OSBI special agents assist with a homicide investigation in the town of Rufe. Just after 3 a.m., the Choctaw County Communications Center received a call of a shooting at 538 N. 4430. When deputies arrived at the location, they discovered Thomas Brantley Collins, 28, dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Several agents responded to the scene to gather information and evidence. Agents determined the homicide was the result of a domestic altercation with another person who lived inside the house with Collins. No arrest has been made at this time. Agents will provide the district attorney with a comprehensive report of the facts in the case. The D.A. will determine whether to file charges.
