UPDATED INFORMATION 5:06PM:

The victim of this morning's homicide in Avery has been identified as 19 year old Cole Bilderback. His father, 47 year old David Bilderback was booked in the Calaveras County Jail on the charge of 187(a)PC-murder and he is being held with $2,000,000 bail. No further details are being released at this time.

On 9-28-17 at 01:17am, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting that there had been a family altercation and someone had been shot. Units from the Sheriff’s Office, Angels Camp Police Department, and California Highway Patrol responded. Deputies arrived on scene at a business in the 4000 block of Highway 4 in Avery finding a 19 year old male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. He is not being identified at this time until next of kin notifications are completed.

Investigators are still gathering information and evidence but so far have learned that there was some sort of altercation between family members when the 19 year old was shot. The business was closed at the time but subjects reside at this location. A 47 year old man from Avery was immediately detained on scene and transported to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held in the Calaveras County Jail where he is being booked on the charge of murder – 187(a) PC with $2,000,000 bail. The name of the arrestee is also not being released at this time because he is related to the victim and notifications are still being made this morning to other family members.
