Joint News Release: Fairfield PD, Richmond PD, & Emeryville PD...
On 9/27/17 at around 8:40 AM, Fairfield PD detectives were attempting to apprehend a homicide suspect. During the event, the suspect failed to yield to the arrest and a pursuit ensued.
Richmond PD and CHP assisted in the pursuit that terminated at the I-80/I-580 interchange. Officers negotiated with the suspect for an extended period of time until officers received gun fire from the suspect. Officers on scene returned fire and the suspect was struck during the exchange. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No Officers were injured as a result of this incident.
All involved departments are coordinating in the investigation as this is a multi-jurisdictional case. The Emeryville Police Department is handling the criminal investigation, and all inquiries are referred to that agency.
