Flowers on the Lake event planned October 5th.

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. In Indiana alone, there were over 65 fatalities as a result domestic violence including 1 in Gibson County.

Please join us on Thursday, October 5th at 5:30pm at Lafeyette Park/lakeside for the 5th Annual Flowers on the Lake. In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this event will honor those individuals whose lives have been affected by domestic violence and the lives that have been tragically lost as a result of domestic violence. The evening will include a performance by the Gibson Southern High School Choir, a Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation and will conclude with opportunities for community involvement in the fight against violence. Problems become opportunities when communities JOIN TOGETHER!

The Task Force is a collaboration of informed professionals, agencies, and citizens whose mission is “to provide education, coordinate resources and aid in the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault in Gibson County”. This group has been working together for over 16 years, to provide services, awareness, education and prevention for those impacted by violence and those community members who want to take a stand against violence in Gibson County.
