On 9-24-17 at about 0100 hours, a Calaveras County deputy patrolling the Wallace area noticed a Ford Mustang travelling eastbound on Highway 12 swerve off and on the roadway, and then come to a stop in the road. The deputy initiated a traffic enforcement stop, at which time the suspect vehicle accelerated and fled towards Valley Springs, circling back towards San Joaquin County via Highway 26. A California Highway Patrol Officer took over the pursuit, which ended in the Farmington area when the suspect vehicle crashed. The driver and passengers were taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol and booked into the San Joaquin County jail. Several handguns were recovered from the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle matched the description of a Be-On-the-Lookout alert that was issued several hours prior by the Manteca Police Department for a robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction.
