Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) has concluded their tactical response regarding the armed barricaded suspect at the 6500 block of Sea Cove Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes (RPV).
SEB deputies learned that on Monday morning, September 25, 2017, Lomita Station personnel responded to a “Disturbance” call at the 6400 block of Sealpoint Court, RPV. When deputies arrived they were informed that the suspect was armed and left the location. The suspect was seen in the backyard of a residence in the 6500 block of Sea Cove Drive, RPV.
After several hours and many verbal attempts by LASD Crisis Negotiations Team members to persuade the suspect’s surrender, he refused to comply. SEB deputies successfully deployed a diversionary device and the suspect surrendered to deputies without further incident.
The area was deemed safe and all neighborhood evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.
The suspect, 36-year-old Paul Carriere, from Rancho Palos Verdes, was arrested and transported to Lomita Station where he was booked for “Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon”, and is being held in lieu of $35,000.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) is responding to the 6500 block of Sea Cove Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, regarding a barricaded suspect.
The surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents.
The SEB Special Weapons Team has assumed command of the tactical response and the Crisis Negotiation Team is on scene to help bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.
