*2nd Update*#LASD Death Investigation, 23600 blk Via Valer, Santa Clarita

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male adult that occurred at the 23600 block of Via Valer, Santa Clarita, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at approximately 3:57 p.m. 

Based on interviews and evidence at the location, it was determined that the unidentified victim died at the hands of another and the suspect was responsible for his death.  

The suspect, Christian Ortiz, a male Hispanic adult has been booked for murder.  At this time we are not revealing the motive for the crime.

The cause of death is believed to be strangulation.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating a suspicious death of a male adult that occurred on the 23600 block of Via Valer, Santa Clarita, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at approximately 3:57 p.m.  
Detectives have learned that deputies assigned to Santa Clarita Station, responded to the location regarding a person not breathing call.  Upon their arrival, they located a male adult who was not breathing and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on where the male was located, his death is being categorized as suspicious and an investigation is on-going.  The identity of the victim has not been determined.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to the 23600 blk Via Valer, Santa Clarita, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a male adult.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
