Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that police are seeking the public’s help identifying the below pictured suspect in connection with an auto burglary that occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., a victim’s purse was stolen from her vehicle, parked at the Exxon Gas Station located at 1 Elizabeth Avenue. Surveillance cameras captured the depicted suspect entering into the victim’s vehicle.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets. This investigation is continuing.

Director Ambrose is urging anyone with information about this suspect to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
