#LASD Deputies Searching for Female Suspect with Gun, Machete Who Assaulted West Hollywood Store Employees

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) West Hollywood Station deputies are investigating an “assault with a deadly weapon” call in the 8400 block of Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, at approximately 11:32 AM a female entered a business, pointed a handgun at an employee and shouted, “Stay away from Cuba.”  The suspect then knocked items off the counter and pointed the handgun at a second employee before she exited the store.

The suspect was last seen walking west on Melrose Avenue toward La Cienega Boulevard and out of view.  With the assistance of an LASD helicopter, West Hollywood deputies conducted a thorough search of the area in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.  Witnesses described the suspect as approximately five foot ten inches tall and weighing at least 170 lbs.

Later that afternoon at approximately 1:25 PM, the suspect returned to the business wielding an approximate 14 inch machete.  She paced back and forth several times in front of the business with machete in hand, shouting, before wedging the weapon between the door and the door frame.  The suspect left the weapon wedged in the door frame and walked west on Melrose Avenue toward La Cienega Boulevard.

LASD personnel are actively searching for the suspect depicted in the attached images.  If you recognize her you are encouraged to contact West Hollywood Station, Detective Luevano at (310) 358-4055.
