An emergency call was received by the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office just after 1 o'clock this afternoon reference a man who had been shot. When deputies arrived to the scene in the 200 block Washington Street in Boswell, they found Jackie Lewis Allen Jr., 51, dead of an apparent gunshot wound outside the home of Mack Brinkley. Deputies also discovered the suspect, Brinkley, had taken a woman hostage and left the scene. State troopers caught up with Brinkley on Highway 3 in Atoka County. A pursuit ensued and shots fired, leaving Brinkley dead. The female hostage was not injured. Numerous OSBI special agents are on the scene investigating the homicide. Allen lived in nearby Bennington. OHP troopers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
