NSPD and Mona Shores Middle School providing a parent presentation on protecting our youth from social media risks.

The Norton Shores Police Department and Mona Shores Middle School have partnered to bring speakers from Protect Young Eyes in to speak with students and teachers about the risks of social media. In addition, we are hosting a PARENT PRESENTATION on Tuesday, September 26, from 6:30 pm - 8 pm.

Did you know that 33% of girls age 13-24 search for porn monthly? Do you know what the Sarahah app is and its risks? What are the 3 attributes of every Internet-safer home?

In the digital age, parents must be observant, engaged, and informed. We'll discuss digital realities, strategies, and practical solutions that will enlighten, equip and encourage parents who want to teach their children how to use technology responsibly. The talk will include specific recommendations for filters and detailed explanations and walk-throughs of popular apps and parental controls.

The Protect Young Eyes team, led by founder, Chris McKenna, presents around the United States to students and adults about how to use technology responsibly. Parents can visit our website, built with families in mind, at https://protectyoungeyes.com/blog

The Norton Shores Police Department and Mona Shores Middle School frequently see students making poor choices when using social media. These poor and risky choices can cause emotional distress, safety concerns, and even legal consequences. We wish to work with parents on educating their children on social media use and providing parents with tools to monitor their children.

Please join us next Tuesday, September, 26th from 6:30-8:00pm at the middle school, 1700 Woodside. See the links below to register.
