Death investigation at Russian Gulch State Park.
On Saturday, September 16, 2017 at about 12:45 PM Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office along with the Sheriff’s helicopter, State Park Rangers and Monte Rio Fire responded to Russian Gulch State Beach on a possible drowning. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a deceased man had been pulled to shore from the surf by bystanders.
The man was described to be in his late 50’s-60’s with short hair and full facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and tennis shoes. The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is investigating the case. Neither the identity of the man nor the cause of death has been established yet.
