UPDATE: Two SLPD Officers run over by fleeing vehicle. 
The investigation continues in the case where two San Leandro Police Officers were struck by a fleeing suspect vehicle last night at the Greenhouse Marketplace.
The incident started when two SLPD officers were hailed regarding a subject who had just shoplifted from the Safeway at 699 Lewelling Blvd. When Officers attempted to stop the subject, he ran to his vehicle and fled, striking the officers. The suspect and the vehicle are still outstanding.
Both Officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One officer was treated and released hours later, the second remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"The SLPD family would like to thank everyone who has reached out with prayers and well-wishes for our injured officers", said Lt. Isaac Benabou. "It is comforting to see the outpouring support from our community in a time of need."
