Sheriff's Aviation Air Rescue 6 perform a hoist rescue of an 87 year old male in the area of Jenks Lake

VICTIM(S): Ernest Martin Scheuer, 87 years of age from Los Angeles
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, September 16, 2017, at approximately7:55 pm, San Bernardino County Fire received a 911 call from a reporting party in the Jenks Lake area regarding a victim who was suffering from a medical condition while hiking. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Communications was also notified. Deputies from Yucaipa Sheriff Station, San Bernardino County Fire personnel and Sheriff's Aviation Unit (40King6) reponded to the area and began searching for the victim.
The crew of 40K6 located the victim at the 8,000 foot level among large trees and several miles from any road. Due to the location, elevation and trees that were over 200 feet in height, the Sheriff's rescue helicopter (Air Rescue 306) was requested. Once on scene, the crew lowered rescue personnel down to the victim, Ernest Scheuer. Scheuer was placed into a rescue basket, hoisted up to the helicopter and flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment of no-life-threatening injuries.
