INCIDENT: Operation “Desert Watch”

SUMMARY:

On Thursday, September 14, 2017, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 10:00 pm, personnel from the Victor Valley Sheriff Station worked in conjunction with County Probation Officers and State Parole Agents on a sex offender compliance operation. The focus of the operation was to ensure registered sex offenders in the City of Adelanto and the unincorporated communities of the Victor Valley, were in compliance with their State mandated registration requirements. During the operation, roughly 320 contacts were made at various locations. A very high percentage of the offenders were found to be in compliance with their registration requirements. Although most offenders were in compliance, 13 people were arrested for outstanding warrants, probation violations and parole violations.

This operation is an example of the ongoing effort by the Sheriff's Department to protect the communities it serves. Anyone with information on suspicious or criminal activity is encouraged to contact their local Sheriff Station or We-Tip incorporated (1-800-78-CRIME - www.wetip.com) and can remain anonymous.
