ALERT: A suspicious male subject driving a light gray sedan has been approaching female students near local schools

SUMMARY: On Thursday, September 14, 2017, a 17- year old student from Oak View High School reported to school staff a suspicious vehicle approached her the previous day. The School Resource Officer, Deputy Chandler, responded to the school to investigate the report. The female student told Deputy Chandler, on September 13, 2017 at approximately 8:30 am hours, she was walking to school when a male subject in his mid- 20's, with black hair and facial stubble, driving a light gray 4 door sedan pulled up next to her. The male subject asked for her name and then asked if she wanted to "hang out" and also for her phone number. The female student told the male "No" and continued walking to school and the unidentified male drove off.
On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, a similar incident occurred in the area of Redlands East Valley High School, involving what appears to be the same subject and vehicle. In each incident, the subject appears to approach younger females who are walking alone, asking for their phone number or if they would like to hang out.
