Sept 14 Shapiro Event - Campus Impacts

Ben Shapiro will be speaking at Zellerbach Hall on Thursday, Sept 14, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Counter-protesters are expected near and around Sproul Plaza before and during Shapiro’s speech.

A security area will be established over the course of the day starting in the morning. Click here for a map of affected buildings. There will be a limited number of access points along the security area for ticket holders to enter the venue beginning at 5:30 pm.

For the security and well-being of our campus community, UCPD is advising our students, staff, faculty, and community members to avoid this area if possible.

Alternate campus pedestrian pathways have been identified for Sept 14. Please allow for additional travel time. BearWALK will be available starting at 6 pm. To book a free walking escort, call 510-642-WALK or visit bearwalk.berkeley.edu.

Parking will be closed all day on September 14 at Barrow Lane Parking Spaces, Peppertree Lane Parking Spaces, North Sproul Lot, and the ASUC Garage.

The area around South campus near Bancroft and Telegraph will be heavily impacted by tomorrow's events. Campus community members should take measures to avoid the area during the entire day. Use alternate routes and expect heavy traffic.

UCPD will be providing updated information on this event via Nixle.
