Clayton County Public Schools Will Remain Closed on Wednesday September 13 Due to Hurricane Irma. Sheriff Hill
After a careful review of the structural integrity of our schools and grounds, the safety of the county roads and the conditions of our neighborhoods and those of neighboring counties, Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) will remain closed on Wednesday, September 13. This extends to all after school programs and extra circular activities. Only critical personnel, to include maintenance and technical personnel, school leaders and custodial staff, will report to assess district facilities.
"This decision was made to ensure the safety of our all students and their families and our employees and their families," said Dr. Morcease J. Beasley, CCPS Superintendent of Schools. "We will continue to assess conditions and will make decisions that are in the interest of safety for our students and our employees."
"Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and widespread power outages, daily assessments will continue," he said. "Decisions to close or open schools will be made and communicated to all each day by 5 p.m."
