Nature of Incident: Prescription / Rx Collection Results @ Leisure Village
Report Number:
Location: 200 Leisure Village Drive, Camarillo, Ca
Date & Time: September 9, 2017 / 12:30 PM
Unit(s) Responsible: Camarillo Police Department’s Community Resource Unit

Narrative:

On Saturday September 9, 2017, the Camarillo Police Department partnered with Leisure Village Security to collect unused / expired prescription medication from residents of the village. The collection time was from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 184.9 pounds of unused / expired medication was collected in just four hours’ time. This was the second largest one day collection at Leisure Village, since the Camarillo Police Department started its first prescription Rx collection in December of 2012.

The Camarillo Police Department conducts these bi-annual collections because we know how difficult it may for some in our senior community to discard their unused medications at the Police Department. We are also aware that grandchildren can access medicine cabinets rather easily, so by bringing the collection to Leisure Village, we are trying to make it easier for the residents to discard their old or unused prescription medication.

The Camarillo Police Department would like to thank the residents of Leisure Village, and Leisure Village Security for their help in making our community a safer one.
