- 400 BLOCK OF GOLDENROD AVE (17-7404)
Occurred between: 9/5/2017 at 8:50 p.m. and 9/6/2017 at 12:00 a.m.
When the victim returned home from walking her dog she discovered that her kitchen window screen was in the bushes below the window. The victim didn’t think much about it at the time and left again. About an hour later when she returned home she found a sign and timer that had been on the windowsill, now in the sink. She immediately called the police and after looking around the home, it didn’t appear that the suspect entered the home.
Loss: None.

- 400 BLOCK OF NARCISSUS AVE (17-6848)
Occurred on: 8/18/2017 between 5:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
When the victim came home, she placed her purse on the floor just inside the front door. A short time later she discovered it was gone. The front door is a Dutch door and either the top of the door was open or the whole door, when the burglary occurred. The victim was home at the time, but didn’t see or hear anyone remove her purse.
Loss: Purse
Suspect Information: None seen or heard.
- 3300 BLOCK OF SEAVIEW AVE (17-6892)
Occurred between: 8/17/2017 at 6:15 a.m. and 8/20/2017 at 11:57 a.m.
The victims were out of town when an unknown suspect cut the screen in an open patio window and climbed into the apartment. Once inside the suspect removed three key fobs, one of the key fobs belonged to the vehicle the victim had taken to the airport and left in long-term parking.
When the victims returned home and discovered the burglary they called police and made a report. The victim was concerned that the burglar might come back and use the key fob to take his vehicle. On 8/25/2017 at 2:27 a.m. the victim heard his vehicle startup and by the time he got to the door the suspect had fled with his vehicle.
Loss: Key fobs (3) and a 2016 Audi A4 (black)

Home Security Tips
- Always lock your windows and doors when you go out, even if for only a few minutes.
- If you return home and find your pedestrian door that leads into your home locked, and you are certain that you left it unlocked, DO NOT GO INSIDE!
- Call 9-1-1 ~ Burglars often lock this door to slow down a victim, allowing the burglar extra time to get out of the home before the resident enters.
- If your home is equipped with an alarm, always activate it even if you’re only going out for a short walk.
- Consider adding a motion sensor in your master bedroom/bathroom, which will activate the alarm if someone comes in through a glass window or door without opening it.
- Always keep your front and rear porch lights on from dusk to dawn and use motion detector lighting along the sides of your home or areas with little foot traffic.
- Use timers on indoor lamps to give the appearance that you are home.
- Adjust window coverings for optimal privacy while maintaining good visibility outside.
- If your garage door has a remote shutoff button on the wall-mounted control, located in the garage, consider locking the door nightly. This will prevent your garage door from being opened remotely.
- If you have a safe, make sure that it is properly bolted to concrete so that it cannot be easily removed.
- Always close and lock your safe and never leave a key or combination out or in an easy to find location (i.e. office, nightstand, etc).
- When you leave on vacation, remember to call the Police Department for a “Vacation Check” 949-644-3681 or sign-up online at www.nbpd.org. Also, ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick up your newspaper and mail while you are away.
