Community

September is National Emergency Preparedness month.

The City of Livonia is joining Michigan’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division along with federal, state, and local governments as well as private and public organizations in supporting emergency planning and preparedness initiatives. This time of year serves as a reminder that it is up to everyone to take action to prepare and plan for potential disasters and emergencies both at their homes and in their communities.

The theme “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can” will continue throughout the month of September. We should all take action to prepare! We are all able to help first responders in our community by training how to respond during an emergency and what to do when disaster strikes — where we live, work, and visit. The goal of NPM is to increase the overall number of individuals, families, and communities that engage in preparedness actions at home, work, business, school, and place of worship.
