INCIDENT: ​Murder Investigation

LOCATION: ​13200 block of Soft Cloud Way, Victorville

VICTIM: ​Armando Castillo, 37 years old, resident of Victorville

SUSPECTS: ​Michael Bauman, 44 years old, resident of Victorville (arrested July 17th)

Jermaine Lang, 31 years old, resident of Victorville (arrested September 2nd)

During the investigation, detectives from the High Desert Regional Gang Enforcement Team were requested by the homicide team to assist in the murder investigation of Armando Castillo. Through investigation, detectives identified Michael Bauman as a suspect. Bauman was arrested on July 17th by the gang team at a residence in Riverside. Bauman was interviewed by homicide detectives and subsequently arrested, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for murder.

As the investigation continued, detectives were able to identify a second suspect, believed to be the shooter, as Jermaine Lang. Lang was arrested by members of the High Desert Regional Gang Enforcement Team on Saturday, September 2nd in Victorville. Lang was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and later transported to the West Valley Detention Center where he remains in custody for murder.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 12:14 a.m. deputies respond to a report of a subject shot in the 12800 block of Boulder Creek Road. The victim, identified as Armando Castillo, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Desert Valley Hospital. At 1:23 a.m. hospital staff pronounced Castillo deceased.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detail responded to conduct the investigation.

Investigators learned the shooting took place a few blocks away in the 13200 block of Soft Cloud Way. After the shooting, Armando Castillo’s friends drove him to the home of an acquaintance in the 12800 block of Boulder Creek Road. Once there, the friends contacted police and requested medical aid.

The motive for the shooting and the identity of the suspect are unknown at this time. Investigators urge anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the Homicide Detail, Detective Gary Hart at (909)387-3589.
