At 11:10 AM on Friday 09/01/2017, an armed bank robbery occurred at the First Midwest Bank at 211th and Lincoln Highway in Matteson.

The offender fled the scene northbound on Cicero Ave in a dark colored SUV and turned east on Vollmer with multiple police units in pursuit. The offending vehicle caused a traffic crash at Crawford and Vollmer continuing east before leaving the roadway and driving on the grass in front of Brookdale. The offender then attempted to flee on foot.

Law enforcement agencies from Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Flossmoor and Matteson coordinated their response and took the offender into custody without incident. The crime scenes are still being processed with the FBI Orland Park Field Office assisting with the investigation. An unknown amount of United States Currency was taken during the robbery.

Thankfully no serious injuries resulted from the traffic crash or to the responding officers.
