Subject: Assistant Police Chief Brian Teasdale

On August 29, 2017 the Sun Prairie Police and Fire Commission unanimously voted to promote Lieutenant Brian Teasdale to assistant police chief. The promotion will take effect on September 4th of this year.

Brian has served with the Sun Prairie Police Department for the past 22 plus years. Over those years, he has worked as a patrol officer, a sergeant, patrol lieutenant and support services lieutenant. His career has included being responsible for every aspect of the department’s operations including the patrol bureau, detective bureau, records bureau and communications center.

Brian has been recognized repeatedly for his dedication and commitment to the police department. He is a past recipient of the Officer of the Year Award, Employee of the Year Award, and the Distinguished Service Award.

Being active in the community has been a hallmark of Brian’s career. He has volunteered for Sunshine Supper, Shop with a Cop, and the Special Olympics Cop on a Roof Top program.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command.

Police Chief Patrick Anhalt notes that Brian is a student of leadership and that he has practiced these principles throughout his career, “Brian is the consummate professional as he actively cares about every employee while at the same time performing at an extremely high level.”

“Brian’s leadership skills, experience and passion have been an invaluable asset to our Sun Prairie Police Department. Brian has served as a key member of the department’s leadership team and has played an important role in enhancing the safety and quality of life of our residents. I look forward to working with him as our new Assistant Chief of Police”, Aaron Oppenheimer, City Administrator.

Upon promotion, Brian will assist Chief Anhalt with delivering effective and fair police services consistent with the department’s vision, mission and core values.
