*2nd Update***ARRESTED* #LASD Lomita Detectives Arrest Suspect in Assault of San Pedro Teen that occurred on 3/30/17

Detectives from Lomita Sheriff’s Station arrested Jaymel Williams, 20, in the city of Long Beach this morning.  Williams was identified as a suspect in the assault of a 15-year-old boy, which took place on March 30, 2017, in La Rambla, an unincorporated community of San Pedro. 

He was booked into Los Angeles County Jail on attempt murder charges, and is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. 
 
Williams is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Long Beach Court.

1ST UPDATE IS AS FOLLOWS: 

Lomita Sheriff’s Station detectives are continuing their investigation into the assault with a deadly weapon that left a juvenile in serious condition. The incident occurred Thursday, March 30, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m., near the 900 block of West 2nd Street in the unincorporated area of San Pedro.

At this time, Investigators believe the crime may be gang related based on the evidence found.

There is no additional information at this time and the investigation is ongoing.   

We continue to seek the public’s help in identifying the two suspects. Anyone with information about this incident is strongly encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station, Sergeant Osburn at (310) 539-1661. Detectives from Lomita Sheriff’s Station are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon that left a juvenile in serious condition.
 
Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, the victim was walking home after leaving a friend’s house when he was confronted and severely beaten by two male suspects in an alley near the 900 block of West 2nd Street in the unincorporated area of San Pedro. 
 
The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in serious condition.
 
There is no additional suspect information.
 
Lomita Station detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the two suspects.  Anyone with information about this incident is strongly encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station, Sergeant Osburn at (310) 539-1661.
