Further information from the Jackson Police Department!

From Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser:

Here is the latest updated information.

The Emergency Management Association continues to track the path of tropical storm Harvey.  According to EMA, Jackson and West Tennessee residents are expected to recieve a significant amount of rainfall.  This anticipated rainfall is expected to cause significant flooding in many flood prone areas of Jackson and West Tennessee.

Because of the potential for flooding, heavy rain, and wind the Jackson Police Department is asking all citizens to please be cautious when contending with flooded roads or down trees.  Remember, flash flooding can be deceptive and can create harzadous conditions that can cause serious injury or loss of life.

Weather and flooding conditions will be monitored closely for determination on opening a shelter.  If you have a scanner, tune your scanner to 147.210 to receive some of the latest and most up to date information.  If you have a smartphone, you can download the Smartway App and get the latest information on road conditions, accidents, and construction from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.  Also, you can go to smartway.tn.gov to get information.

The Emergency Management Association is asking citizens to check on elderly neighbors and pets during this rain event.

For an emergency, call 911.  If you need an officer but it is not an emergency, please call 731-425-8400.
