Indiana Conservation Officers Investigating Off-Road Vehicle Crash in DeKalb County
 
(Auburn)  Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) crash that occurred on August 31, 2017 at approximately 9:30 am.
 
Jacob F Smith, 70, of Butler, Indiana, was operating an ORV westbound County Road 38, just west of county road 39, when he lost control in loose gravel. He traveled south across the road and rolled the ORV on a grassy embankment, throwing him off the ORV. 
 
Smith suffered injuries to his head and arms and was transported by private vehicle to DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn.
 
Smith was then transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for further treatment.
 
Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
