Fremont attempt home invasion case was part of a multi-jurisdictional investigation resulting in 8 indictments.

18 month multi-jurisdiction investigation results in 8 suspects being indicted for multiple crimes, including an attempt home invasion case in Fremont.
In August of 2016, the Fremont Police Department investigated an attempt home invasion robbery that occurred in a south Fremont neighborhood.  During the attempt home invasion, multiple armed suspects entered an unoccupied residence and stole electronics.  The incident was captured on video.  The video from this incident was released to our community, which resulted in multiple tips being reported and several suspects being identified.  In September of 2016, three of the suspects were taken into custody.
Through extensive follow-up with law enforcement agencies from Contra Costa County, it was learned that the suspects in our case were members of a violent street gang (Swerve Team).  The offenders have been charged in Contra Costa County as this gang was found to be responsible for multiple homicides, attempted homicides, home invasions, car-jackings, robberies, and burglaries in several jurisdictions.  Today the Richmond Police Department held a news conference and the news article below provides an overview of the multi-jurisdictional investigation.  Fremont's case was mentioned particularly with regard to how the video evidence played a major role in the indictment.
