Flash Flood Warning until 10:30AM

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... West central St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Southwestern Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana... North central Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Northwestern Plaquemines Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 1030 AM CDT

* At 831 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... New Orleans, Chalmette, Marrero, Harvey, East New Orleans, Timberlane, Belle Chasse, Metairie, Jefferson, Gretna, Westwego, Jean Lafitte, Woodmere, Violet, Terrytown, Meraux, Poydras, Estelle, Arabi and Barataria.

* AFFECTED AREAS: JEFFERSON ... ORLEANS ... PLAQUEMINES ... ST. BERNARD

Instructions:

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.
