...Flash Flood Watch in effect through Thursday for all of southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi... .The potential for heavy rainfall will exist through Thursday across portions of the forecast area. Tropical moisture associated with Tropical Storm Harvey will spread eastward over the area. Tropical rainbands from Harvey could produce periods of heavy rainfall across the region through Thursday which could lead to flash flooding. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in New Orleans has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, Lower Jefferson, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Northern Tangipahoa, Orleans, Southern Tangipahoa, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. In southern Mississippi, Amite, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts will be possible through Thursday. This includes all of southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. This watch may need to be expanded farther east over the next couple of days.

* Impacts include flooding of low lying and poorly drained areas, rises on area rivers and bayous, possibly to flood levels if heavy rain persists over basins. Localized heavier rainfall could cause street flooding.
