INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: La Paz Drive and Avalon Avenue

VICTIM: Guillermo Barragan, 25 year old resident of Victorville

SUMMARY:
On August 27, 2017, at approximately 4:49 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of La Paz Drive and Avalon Avenue.

When deputies arrived they discovered the driver of a Honda Accord had been traveling north on La Paz Drive and lost control of the vehicle, just beyond Avalon Avenue. The Honda struck an unoccupied, Ford Fusion parked on La Paz Drive. The collision caused the parked Ford to be pushed approximately 100 feet, into the yard of a residence.

The male driver was the only occupant in the Honda. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Regional MAIT Team are conducting the investigation to determine the cause of the collision. La Paz Drive between Avalon Avenue and La Paz Court was closed during the investigation and was reopened at approximately 10:30 a.m.
