Deputy makes drug sales arrest with assistance of his patrol canine.

A Sonoma County Sheriff’s patrol deputy arrested two suspects for transporting a large amount of methamphetamine during routine traffic stop last night. At about 9:00 PM a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a grey Honda Civic SB 101 near Todd Ave as it was swerving and traveling slower than the speed of traffic. The driver was suspected of possibly being a drunk driver.

The deputy contacted the driver and passenger. The passenger, 44-year-old Dawn Humphreys of Meridian Id initially gave the deputy a false name. The deputy determined her identity and confirmed a parole warrant out of Idaho. Humphreys was detained for her warrant.

The driver, 41-year-old Chico Adame out of Caldwell ID was also determined to be unlicensed. Both Caldwell and Adame appeared to be nervous during the traffic stop so the deputy utilized his patrol canine “Titan” who is certified in narcotics detection. The deputy had Titan sniff the exterior of the car. When Titan alerted on the vehicle the deputy searched the car.

Inside Adame’s car, the deputy found approximately five pounds of methamphetamine in individual one-pound bags, eight pounds of processed marijuana, $1000 cash, a weighing scale and a .22 caliber handgun loaded with nine rounds.

Adame was ultimately arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of possession and transportation of narcotics for sale, being armed during the commission of a felony, convicted felon in possession of firearm and driving while unlicensed.

Humphreys was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail on charges of possession and transportation of narcotics for sale and providing false identification to a peace officer. Both are being held on $250,000 bail.
