On Friday, August 25, 2017, the West Covina Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department and the California Highway Patrol will be assisting the United States Marine Corps in escorting PFC Ruben Velasco from LAX to Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Whittier, CA. The procession is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm and will travel along the 105 Freeway east to the 605 Freeway north.
PFC Velasco’s funeral services at the Sky Rose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park are as follows:
August 30, 2017: Viewing at 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
August 31, 2017: Liturgy and Graveside services begin 11:00 am.
PFC Velasco was killed during training exercises off the coast of Australia on August 7, 2017.
